1. Who Is Responsible for Your Data

2. Your Audio Files Stay on Your Device
The tools process audio and video files directly in your web browser, on your own device. Files you open in a tool are not uploaded to, stored on or analyzed by our servers, and we cannot see them. The same applies to anything you record or create in a tool, such as a synthesizer recording.
The only exception is a file you choose to send us yourself, for example as an email attachment when reporting a problem. It is used only to investigate that problem and is deleted afterwards.
3. Information Collected When You Visit
- Technical data for delivery and security. The website is hosted by GoDaddy and delivered through Cloudflare, which stores cached copies of the pages and protects the site. Both process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the website and protect it from attacks and abuse.
- Shared code libraries. Parts of the page design, the icons and the waveform display are loaded from the public content delivery networks jsDelivr, cdnjs (operated by Cloudflare) and unpkg. When your browser fetches these files, the networks receive technical data such as your IP address and browser type.
- Usage statistics (only with your consent). With your consent, Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location (country or city), your device and browser type, and the page that referred you. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. These statistics show which tools and guides are useful.
- Emails you send. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message, and use them only to reply to you.
- Settings saved in your browser. Your light or dark mode choice and, in the Ear Training tool, your best scores are saved in your browser’s local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
4. Advertising by Google
Free Audio Lab is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this website and/or other websites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google’s My Ad Center. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
If you do not consent to advertising cookies, Google may still show non-personalized ads. These are based on general context, such as the page you are reading, but may still use cookies or similar technologies where permitted, for example to prevent fraud or limit how often an ad is shown. 5. Cookies and Your Consent
When you first visit the website, a cookie banner from Cookiebot asks for your consent. Necessary cookies are always active. Statistics and marketing cookies are only used if you allow them. Until you choose, Google Analytics and Google advertising run in a restricted mode (Google Consent Mode) that does not store analytics or advertising cookies.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the button at the bottom of this page. You can also delete cookies through your browser settings. The full, automatically updated list of cookies used on this website is shown in the Cookie Declaration below.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the following legal bases apply:
- Consent for usage statistics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests for delivering the website securely and for replying to messages you send.
7. Who Receives Data
Data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the website: Google (analytics and advertising), GoDaddy (hosting), Cloudflare (delivery, caching and security) and Cookiebot (storing your consent choice). Each of them processes data under its own privacy policy, for example Google’s Privacy Policy.
The content delivery networks jsDelivr, cdnjs and unpkg, from which shared code libraries are loaded, receive the technical data described in section 3.
We do not sell your personal data for money. Data collected by advertising cookies is shared with Google as described above, and some privacy laws, such as those in several US states, may treat this as “selling” or “sharing”. You can refuse it by declining marketing cookies in the cookie settings.
8. International Transfers
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, the transfers rely on safeguards offered by the providers, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How Long Data Is Kept
- Your consent choice is stored in the CookieConsent cookie for up to 12 months, after which you will be asked again.
- Google Analytics keeps event data, such as individual page views, for 2 months, and data linked to a returning visitor for 14 months. The 14-month period starts again each time you return. After that, the data is deleted automatically.
- Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time. In the EEA and the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. You will not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
Much of the data described here is held by Google and not by us directly. To exercise your rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month.
11. Children
The website is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and it will be deleted.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the website or the services it uses change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.

This policy is available in several languages. If there is any difference between the versions, the English version applies.
